Why We Started Our Own Private Practice in Mental Health

When we set out to build our own private practice, we weren’t just thinking about running a business—we were dreaming about a place where both therapists and clients could truly thrive. We wanted to create a space where healing could happen authentically, where therapists felt supported and valued, and where our community could receive the specialized care it deserves.

A Workplace That Feels Real

Too often, mental health professionals work in environments that don’t align with who they are. Productivity is prioritized over people, and authenticity can get lost in the pressure of meeting quotas and paperwork. We wanted something different. We wanted a workplace where therapists could show up as their full, genuine selves—where they didn’t have to check parts of their identity at the door.

Authenticity is one of our core values, and it’s something we cultivate not just in how we show up for clients, but in how we run our practice. Our team is built on real connections, open conversations, and the freedom to do this work in a way that feels true to who we are as clinicians and human beings. If our team is healthy, it will be evident in our work with clients.

Excellence in Specialization

We believe therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all. Every client comes to us with unique needs, and they deserve to work with someone who is deeply trained and passionate about helping with their specific challenges. That’s why we built a practice where clinicians don’t just take on any client who walks through the door—we specialize.

By having a team of therapists who each focus on their areas of expertise, we ensure that our clients get the highest level of care. Whether it’s trauma, anxiety, ADHD, relationship issues, or something else, our goal is to connect people with a clinician who is not only experienced but genuinely passionate about their healing journey.

Compassion and Hospitality in Every Interaction

Therapy should feel safe. It should feel warm, welcoming, and deeply human. That’s why compassion and hospitality are two of our guiding principles. From the moment someone reaches out to us, we want them to feel cared for—not just as clients, but also as our very welcomed guests.

We extend that same care to our team. Being a therapist is hard work, and burnout is real. That’s why we’ve created an environment where clinicians feel supported, heard, and part of a community that truly looks out for one another.

Giving Back to Our Community

Our practice isn’t just about the people who come through our doors—it’s about the larger community we serve. Mental health care should be accessible, and we are committed to finding ways to give back. Whether it’s through community outreach, offering resources, or finding creative ways to make therapy more available to those who need it, we believe in using our practice as a force for good. We get excited to be a part of other’s dreams in our area as well. You might find us at NAMI walks, Chamber of Commerce events, community events such as Health & Wellness Fairs, local college campuses handing out journals, and supporting Stark County Young Life. We hope our community can feel our love!

More Than a Practice—A Purpose

Starting this private practice wasn’t just a career move; it was a calling. We wanted to build something that mattered—a place where therapists love to work, where clients receive the best care possible, and where our community feels the ripple effects of a group of clinicians who are passionate, skilled, and deeply committed to healing.

This is why we do what we do.

You are thought of, cared about, and valued. Remember that.

Compassionately,

Matt and Janelle
